Natalie Portman is arguably one of the best actresses of her generation currently working in Hollywood. However, many may have forgotten the role that thrust her into the limelight sixteen years ago: Léon.

Praised by critics and audiences alike, Léon – a film about a young girl who is taken in by the hitman after her family is murdered by corrupt police agents – was a clear cinematic achievement of its time.

Since its release in 1994, many have speculated about the possibility of a sequel, but, mainly due to Besson’s refusal to direct, nothing has come to fruition.

Portman, in an interview with MTV while promoting Black Swan, said she would jump at the chance of appearing in a sequel to action film; only if Luc Besson was at the helm.

I told him if he would do it himself, I would do it in two seconds […] But he won’t, so…

It seems unlikely Besson will change his mind but, in Hollywood, you can never say never.
