Are you ready for the return of Michael Myers? Yet another horror franchise is being resurrected as Dimension Films have announced that Halloween Returns (that’s the real title) is officially in the works.

It was revealed earlier this year that the movie will be neither a remake or reboot, but a “recalibration”.

We’re not sure what that means either, but we do know that Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (Saw IV-VII, Piranha 3DD) have written the script, while Malek Akkad and Matthew Stein are set to produce. It has also now been confirmed that Marcus Dunstan (Saw) is set to direct, with production beginning this July.

Classic horror character Michael Myers was last seen in Rob Zombie’s 2007 reboot, and its sequel.

According to Moviehold, this instalment is set to be “a standalone film set to reintroduce audiences to Michael Myers years after his initial rampage.” His victims will – obviously – be a group of kids, but one of them is the child of one his previous victims and ” a cop whose long been obsessed with Myers’ case, even putting it before his own daughter.” Interestingly, Myers will be on death row when Halloween Returns kicks off, but two kids who sneak in to watch his execution will inadvertently help him to escape captivity.
