Over the weekend Michael Giacchino confirmed the rumours that he has been hired to compose the music for the next Spider-Man film. He joins Jon Watts’ movie, due out in July of next year, weeks after it was confirmed that he was taking over from Alexandre Desplat as the composer of Gareth Edwards’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Giacchino seemingly can do no wrong. His work on J. J. Abrams’ Star Trek films, as well as his Pixar work (Up, The Incredibles) has been exemplary. His ability to take iconic elements of previous themes and make something new and exciting is second to none.
