Aquaman

Since it was revealed that Zack Snyder will follow 2016’s Batman Vs. Superman with a Justice League movie, a few more details have surfaced in regards to the release date and production schedule.

As we mentioned in the previous article, it’s believed that Justice League will be released in 2017, with a specific date of May 5th supposedly pencilled in by Warner Bros. It is now also being reported that the movie will indeed shoot back to back with Batman Vs. Superman, perhaps explaining why Cyborg and Wonder Woman have been cast for that movie.

However, perhaps the most interesting piece of information to surface comes from The Wrap. According to the site, they’ve heard that Matt Damon is being eyed for the role of Aquaman.

Ever since Ben Affleck was cast as Batman, Damon has been jokingly linked to any number of Justice League roles, but this is the first time we’ve heard any sort of “official” casting rumour.

It’s a role which Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa has also been mentioned in connection with, and while he’s expected to appear in Batman Vs. Superman, it could be in any number of roles at this point.

Despite being a point of ridicule for a number of years, the DC Comics “New 52” relaunch made Aquaman one of their most popular characters and Warner Bros. are currently said to be working on a direct-to-DVD animated feature starring the character.

This is of course just a rumour as of now, so take it with a pinch of salt!
