Mark Kermode Pans 3d to Re-Create 2d

3

It took me ages to think of the right title for this post and even now, I don’t think it’s right! You’ll see from the video embedded below what I mean though. Mark Kermode has written a piece on his blog entitled: ‘How to Enjoy a 3d Movie‘ and then goes onto talk about how to convert your 3d glasses back in to 2d so that you can start watching the actual film rather than trying to spot bullets hitting you in the face! But studios like Fox and directors like James Cameron have spent millions on the film Avatar making the true 3d experience but have they wasted their money?

So what do you think about all this 3d? Is it nonsense or is it the future? I can understand where Mark is coming from but do I agree? I think I’m on the fence. Tell us your thoughts in the comments below after watching his video.

  1. Kermode is King. Although I think you should watch films as directors intend I agree with 3D being a gimmick that won't last. Shame those glasses lose some colour though.

  2. I remember him talking about that on Wittertainment.

Amusing idea, but it seems a bit redundant when most 3D films have a 2D release to go with it.

  3. Picking Avatar as an example of the “pointy, pointy, pointing things” in “the nonsense that is 3D” is misguided at best, stupid at worst.
Why? Because it's not a 3D movie that throws stuff at you or points things at you, it's like a window out of the theater, not a portal into it.
I can understand using Avatar because it gets you views, but it also undermines your silly argument.
If you don't want to see it in 3D, go to one of the 2D screenings, no idiotic home-made glasses needed at all – and no loss of brightness.

I'm sorry, but this is a really stupid story.
