Man-of-Steel-Character-Poster-ZodZack Snyder’s Man of Steel hits the big screen this Friday, and the anticipation is almost unbearable. The Superman reboot has long been touted as one of the best films of the year, and everything we’ve seen from the film so far suggests that it’s going to be exactly that.

Jon was treated to an early screening of the film this month, and if you haven’t already, you can read our Man of Steel review here.

We’ve already heard that Warner Bros. are moving forward with a sequel, which is absolutely awesome news. And following the two epic TV spots we saw earlier in the week, the studio have released another explosive thirty-second spot. This time around, we focus on Michael Shannon’s General Zod, and the threats he makes to have Superman delivered to him.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

Henry Cavill takes centre stage here as Clark Kent / Kal-El / Superman himself. And he’s joined by a terrific ensemble, led by Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Richard Schiff, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, and Laurence Fishburne.

Snyder is directing from a script penned by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight Trilogy), who co-wrote the story with Christopher Nolan.

Man of Steel will be released in 2D, 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D in the US and UK this Friday, June 14th. The countdown is very much on. This is going to be immense.
