Man-of-Steel-PosterMan of Steel is just a couple of days from hitting the big screen, and the film is set to open huge at the box office over the weekend.

It will come as a surprise to no one that Warner Bros. are fast-tracking a sequel, Deadline report, and have set Zack Snyder to direct and David S. Goyer to pen the script, reuniting the dream team from the immensely anticipated first film.

Jon was fortunate enough to catch an early screening of Man of Steel, and you can read our review here. (As you can imagine, we have a lot of love for the movie.)

Having been involved as producer, mentor, and co-writer on the story for the original, Christopher Nolan’s involvement is said to be not so full-blown for the Man of Steel sequel. He’s got Interstellar lined up on his plate, with the release date for that blockbuster already set for November 2014. But it sounds like he will still be involved in some capacity, and it’s nice to know that he’ll be back for more behind the scenes alongside Snyder and Goyer.

Goyer’s involvement with the sequel is part of his massive three-picture deal at Warner Bros. that he signed for Man of Steel, the sequel, and the Justice League movie with Superman.

The most interesting thing I’m looking forward to hearing more about is exactly when we can look forward to this sequel. Warner Bros. have previously spoken about announcing more on setting up a potential DC Cinematic Universe soon, and I can’t wait to find out if the Man of Steel sequel will be the next film on their slate, or if they’ll launch either a new solo superhero ahead of Justice League, or a duo movie like World’s Finest.

Man of Steel will be released in 2D, 3D, IMAX, and IMAX 3D on June 14th in the US and UK. This definitely has Movie of the Year written all over it.
