For those out there who already bemoan the lack of originality in Tinseltown, and are less than excited at the prospect of Scream 4 heading to the multiplexes soon, an announcement has cropped up on Facebook (and reported by ComingSoon) that the brothers Weinstein are planning a Scary Movie 5.
Oh geez! That series of films may have made a very healthy profit for the company in the past (a whooping $800 million worldwide in fact), but this really does smack of creative bankruptcy. Even Scream 4 feels like a completely unnecessary venture, so the idea of returning to its half-assed parody once again is just depressing.
Hasn’t the success of their big Oscar hope The King’s Speech been enough of a tell-tale sign that there is a big audience out there who are hungry for original, quality product?
What are your thoughts on this potential fifth outing? Is it time to put both franchises to sleep for good?
I love the scary movie movies! All those other spoofs suck ass!
u dont know what ur talking about scream 4 is going to kick ass and as for scary movie 5 they should keep making them because there are alot of horror movies to be made fun of, and i agree with ryan all other spoofs suck!!!!
lmao. such a biased article. i love how you didn’t mention that scream 4’s early test screening got raving reviews, overwhelmingly positive. Total disregard that the scary movie franchise is the only legitimate spoof films that have been put out. Oh go back to your rocking chair and yell out the hooligans for walking on your grass. I will be out enjoying scream 4 and if this is true Scary movie 5. Woot!
