Kumail Nanjiani has jumped on board Fox’s new comedy feature, Stuber alongside Guardians of the Galaxy’s Dave Bautista.

Stuber tells the story of an Uber driver who picks up a grizzled cop, played by Bautista, who is hot on the trail of a brutal killer. The driver is then thrust into a harrowing ordeal where he has to keep his wits, his life, and his five-star rating. Nanjiani will play the role of the ” mild mannered” Uber driver, Stu.

It’s All Gone Pete Tong and Goon director, Michael Dowse takes the helm on a script from Tripper Clancy (Hot Dog). Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are producing the film. Jake Wagner and Nick Thomas are executive producing. Jeremy Kramer is overseeing for Fox.

Nanjiani – who was recently nominated for an Oscar for co-writing The Big Sick, which also won the best first screenplay trophy at the Spirit Awards – is in hot demand at the moment. He’s also been eyed for Sony’s Mr America, which has the Russo brothers producing, as well as being in talks for the Annapurna drama The True American. Nanjiani is also developing several projects as a producer, including a TV remake of My Beautiful Laundrette.

Bautista who not only has showcased his action prowess but his great comedic timing on the big screen can next be seen in Avengers: Infinity War, Hotel Artemis, and Escape Plan 2 with Sylvester Stallone. In addition, the former MMA fighter and WWE champ is currently filming the next Avengers sequel.
