Kinect Blamed For Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death

7

Kinect Red Ring of DeathPS3 owners have long lauded over the Xbox 360’s seemingly inescapable hardware failure.

But tales of the infamous ‘red ring of death’ have quietened in recent months as Microsoft has worked continually to create workarounds and fix machines as soon as they break.

Alas, it seems the dark days are back again, with the Kinect now blamed for a whole new glut of infuriating console collapses.

Microsoft has vocally denied any connection between the error signal and the Kinect, although the BBC reports numerous tales of Xbox owners picking up on the erroneous timing.

We’d even be a little dubious if the exact same thing didn’t happen to us on Boxing Day after having plugged the Kinect in for only the third time, and a brief search across a number of Xbox forums found countless other bemoaning the same thing.

Microsoft’s official stance?

“There is no correlation between the three flashing red lights error and Kinect. Any new instances of the three flashing red lights error are merely coincidental.”

Hmm…..

  1. Trouble is that radio station didn’t even know that when the father complained he said something like “we were all going to have a game of Singstars Take That’s greatest hits”
the big problem is “SINGSTAR and TAKE THAT is a PS3 EXCLUSIVE… Oh and by coincidence their guarantee had just ran out so I wonder the only people who would be complaining are the ones whose consoles are over 3 years old as MS would of fixed them otherwise anyway, so what a big coincidence that they are out of guarantee hmmmmmmmm.

Kinect is the fastest selling videogame hardware of all time selling 7.17 million in 8 weeks Nintendo Wii could only manage 3.70million in the same time so a few people claiming it is kinects fault is no more valid than people claiming it went wrong when they plugged in their usb hard drive, cooked a bacon sandwich etc etc.

And there are also reports “On the internet” (so it must be true) like this that people plugging in PS3 MOVE are getting YLOD and the Modern Warefare Black Ops is breaking countless amounts of PS3s but where are the BIG HEADLINES about it ?

  2. Happened to me just now with a white 2006 Xbox360 and Kinect. Never saw the RROD before, but since the Kinect have seen it several times. Now with three LEds on. I don’t think it is a coincidence!
