When Ryan Murphy calls, you say yes. That was the unspoken consensus among the all-star cast of ‘All’s Fair’ — the glossy, high-stakes legal drama led by Kim Kardashian, Naomi Watts, Glenn Close, Niecy Nash-Betts, Sarah Paulson, and Teyana Taylor. The series brings together a formidable lineup of women in a story about strength, reinvention, and the messy beauty of second chances — both in the courtroom and in life.
At a recent press conference, the cast reflected on what drew them to Murphy’s world of female lawyers, lavish wardrobes, and layered ambition.
“When Ryan calls, you just say yes”

NAOMI WATTS
For Naomi Watts, the decision was instant.
“It was gonna be a yes just when he calls,” Watts said. “Then the lineup of women — I’ve never had this kind of ensemble except maybe when I did Brides of Christ. You can imagine all these women coming in broken or in pieces, and how we can work together to put them back together. It sounded like a really aspirational idea to me.”
Teyana Taylor, the self-described “baby” of the group, echoed that sentiment.
“To share the same space and breathe the same air as these amazing women is truly amazing. I’m the baby, so I’m just soaking everything up and being a student.”
GLENN CLOSE
Glenn Close on reclaiming power — and great clothes
Close, who plays the firm’s commanding matriarch, was initially hesitant to revisit legal territory after her Emmy-winning turn on Damages.
“He called me and said it was about women lawyers, and I said, ‘Well, I did Damages. I don’t want to be like her,’” Close recalled. “She was everyone’s idea of a bitch — but truly, she was just acting like a man.”

Murphy’s response changed her mind.
“He said, ‘No, no, you’re the matriarch, the mentor. You’ll have great clothes.’ And that was very seductive,” she laughed. “Connecting with these women on a personal basis and looking forward to seeing them every day was a great blessing.”
KIM KARDASHIAN
Kim Kardashian: from real-life law student to TV attorney
Murphy’s initial pitch — “Kim Kardashian as a divorce lawyer” — may have sounded like a Hollywood punchline, but Kardashian’s dedication is no joke.
“I was always the kid up in my dad’s office going through crime scene photos and doing all the things I shouldn’t,” she said of her late father, attorney Robert Kardashian. “He actually discouraged me from being a lawyer — he said, ‘It’s gonna stress you out way too much.’ But I think he’d be so proud now.”
On ‘All’s Fair’, Kardashian blends art and life, portraying a fierce attorney representing clients at their lowest points.
“Everyone needs support,” she said. “Anyone going through a separation of their family is going through a hard time. The women in these cases feel so broken and at their lowest point. Our job as their attorneys is to give them their confidence back and get them what they need.”
Her co-stars vouched for her commitment — and her work ethic.
“She had her flash cards for her law exams during camera setups,” Close revealed. “So yes — she’s following her dad.”
“Watching Kim juggle everything was inspiring”
Between filming, studying law, parenting, and running her businesses, Kardashian’s balancing act didn’t go unnoticed.
“Watching Kim juggle what she was juggling and still do the work with dignity, grace, and humor was inspiring,” Paulson said. “It was a very good lesson to watch how she navigated it all.”
Watts added:
“Kim is the calmest person I’ve ever met in my entire life, which is crazy considering how big her life is. The multitasking is next-level.”
Nash-Betts joked about Kardashian’s constant multitasking:
“She has a baby on the iPhone. She has the law books. A script. Running the business on the computer. All of the things!”
Power, polish, and purpose
While ‘All’s Fair’ dazzles with couture-level styling — “The wardrobe is crazy,” Paulson teased — the show’s heart lies in its emotional truth. These women aren’t just dressing for success; they’re redefining it.
As Kardashian summed up:
“It’s fun to play this on TV and connect it to real-life women — the family law attorneys I’ve worked with who I respect. The goal is to uplift them and make them feel they’re not alone.”
‘All’s Fair’ launches 4th November on Disney+
