class=”alignleft size-full wp-image-43493″ title=”Chawz” src=”https://www.heyuguys.com/images/2010/09/Chawz.jpg” alt=”” width=”211″ height=”133″ />Variety brings news that the genre arm of US distribution company Magnolia Pictures have picked up the rights for new Korean monster movie Chawz (geddit?).

The story follows a giant killer pig which terrorises the countryside, including a group of organic vegetable-picking tourists (sounds like a far from subtle dig at the non-meat eating population).

Korea was home to the wonderful 2006 creature feature, The Host (another homage to classic B-movie monster yarns) and unsurprisingly, Magnolia were also involved in the US release of that film too.

Chawz (or Chaw as it’s known here) premiered in the UK at last year’s Leeds Film Festival and is available on DVD through Optimum Releasing, which I’ve just added it to my LoveFilm list.

See it now before Hollywood makes it’s own version.
