It’s hard to find moments of levity when you’re starring in a movie with Robert DeNiro and Sylvester Stallone.  Somehow we know it’s possible with Kevin Hart and Alan Arkin in their new film Grudge Match.  They couldn’t be any more opposite, but as they say, Hollywood breeds strange bedfellows.

A veteran of cinema, Alan Arkin plays “Lightning”, the elderly trainer of Stallone’s Henry “Razor” Sharp.  He’s tasked with getting the aging boxer back into fighting shape, and Arkin capitalizes on a watered-down but still fiendishly antagonistic version of the late Burgess Meredith’s Mickey from Stallone’s more notable boxing film, Rocky (although Arkin would have you believe otherwise).

Kevin Hart plays Dante Slate Jr., the son of a former promoter who is looking to make his own way in the world of boxing.  It is Slate who conjures up the idea of bringing Sharp and McDonnen back to the ring, and Hart’s usual screeching, maniacal persona amps the character (and laughs) up by 1000 percent.

We sat down with these two funnymen to talk about the movie, working with Stallone and DeNiro, and their mutual respect for each other, among other things, and you can check it out below!

Grudge Match hits UK cinemas January 24.
