Kate Hudson will join Craig Robinson in Ana Lily Amirpour’s fantasy third feature ‘Blood Moon’.

Zac Efron could also be jumping on board as the Baywatch and The Paper Boy actor is said to be in talks to join the cast.

The story will focus on a girl with strange and dangerous abilities who escapes from a mental asylum in New Orleans. Set in hedonistic streets of New Orleans, the film is inspired by fantasy-adventure movies of the 80’s and 90’s. It is understood to pair strange, violent, and humorous sequences with a range of music from heavy metal to Italian techno.

‘A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night’ filmmaker, Amirpour will take the helm with Oscar-winner John Lesher (Birdman) producing for his Le Grisbi banner.

Lesher said, “Lily’s unique vision and poetic style sets her apart from the pack. She is truly one of the most exciting filmmakers working today.”

Production is set to begin in spring 2019.

The daughter of Goldie Hawn, Hudson was last seen in 2017’s ‘Marshall’ and in Peter Berg’s ‘Deepwater Horizon’ alongside Mark Wahlberg. Her next project will see her star in the Sia directed ‘Music’.

Efron’s most recent project saw him star alongside Hugh Jackman in ‘The Greatest Showman’. His upcoming projects include Harmony Korine’s ‘The Beach Bum’ opposite Matthew McConaughey and ‘Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile’ as Ted Bundy opposite Kaya Scodelario, Lily Collins and John Malkovich.
