Beckinsale will star opposite Mark Wahlberg in the thriller being produced by Working Title.
Contraband centers on a security guard and former alcohol smuggler on the Iceland-Netherlands route who is tempted back into illicit business by a dubious friend after encountering financial problems.
Baltasar Kormakur, who starred in and produced the Icelandic original, will direct Contraband.
