Before we go any further, it’s worth pointing out that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with The Avengers. In 2012, Joss Whedon created arguably the greatest comic book movie ever, and it is quite deservedly the second highest grossing movie of all-time with over $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office.
However, the recently announced Justice League has every chance of not only being as good as the Marvel Studios superhero ensemble, but possibly even better!
While the majority of team members may not have had their own solo movies to familiarise the audience with them, bringing together the likes of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg and Aquaman should be an irresistible prospect to any comic book fan!
So, why should you be excited? Well…
10. Zack Snyder Is Directing
Joss Whedon is a great filmmaker, but Zack Snyder’s credits as a director are arguably far more impressive in some ways. He’s got 300, Watchmen and Man of Steel all to his name, and his take on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ iconic graphic novel alone serves as an example of why he’s the right man to bring Justice League to the big screen. He crammed an awful lot into Watchmen, but it never felt overcrowded or overlong, and while some fanboys found fault with the destruction caused by Superman and General Zod’s battle in Man of Steel, that showed what a capable helmer of action Snyder is. If he can do that with one superhero, just imagine what he’ll do when he has a whole team of them fighting side by side! Oh, and he’s more than capable of telling a great story!
