When we saw a preview footage screening of The Jungle Book last year, it was evident that the movie was going to be something special and now, nearly 6 months later the stats are proving the same.

Over the weekend, the Disney remake of the Rudyard Kipling story has set the UK box office alight still bringing in more than 10 times any other film on show.

The Jon Favreau directed movie which features voices from Sir Ben Kingsley, Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba and Bill Murray has now surpassed the total takings from movies that include Maleficent, Oz The Great and Powerful, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Night at the Museum and Snow White and the Huntsman show just how dominant and successful the release has been.

In all, The Jungle Book has taken £21m in UK box office ticket sales, $191m in the US and is the fourth highest grossing film of the year taking $528m. It’s also become the highest grossing Hollywood movie in India ever!

If you haven’t seen the film yet, we urge you to go and see it at the cinema, it’s such a great film (our review here) and so wonderful to see it doing so well.
