Ultron

Avengers: Age of Ultron will kick off with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes battling it out with Baron Von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) before teaming up with the latter two to take on the villainous A.I. Ultron (James Spader).

Basically, the sequel to 2012’s box office hit Avengers Assemble is going to be very busy!

In an interview with Empire, Joss Whedon was quick to point out the fact that he’s not throwing all of these characters into the mix simply to make fans happy. There’s a reason for all of them being there. “I fiercely dislike the idea of just throwing in more people for the sake of doing that,” he stressed. “But last time I had all of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes versus one British character actor, and I needed more conflict.”

As we pointed out above, that conflict will be in the form of Ultron, an artificial intelligence created by Hank Pym/Ant-Man in the comic books. However, it’s believed that Tony Stark will be responsible for him in The Avengers sequel. “I’m having a blast with Ultron. He’s not a creature of logic – he’s a robot who’s genuinely disturbed. We’re finding out what makes him menacing and at the same time endearing and funny and strange and unexpected, and everything a robot never is.”

As with many other Disney production, Avengers: Age of Ultron will shoot in Pinewood Studios, and Whedon was quick to point out that he’s enjoying using that and other UK locations.

“The number of different looks and textures and moods we’re getting from the British locations is stupid awesome, because this, palette-wise, is very different. I’m trying to make a different film. Because why would you make one movie twice? That seems weird.” What do you guys think?

  1. I am SO EXCITED for this movie, especially after everything that happened with Winter Solider and is currently happening with Agent’s of SHIELD, phase 2 has been bringing a lot more depth into the films and characters and I can’t wait to see them all together again.

  2. Excited to see James Spader bringing his A-game to the movie. The guy is one of the most exciting actors around!
