Josh O’Connor is the latest in a line of names to join the growing list to star in Steven Spielberg’s currently untitled event movie.

O’Connor joins the previously announced cast of Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo and Eve Hewson.

Plot details are locked down but the movie is described as a two-hander, Emily Blunt is also onboard and is thought to be playing one of the leads in the project. Based on a story by Spielberg, the film has his longtime collaborator David Koepp penning the script, with Kristie Macosko Krieger producing.

Currently, Universal and Amblin have the project slated for a release on May 15, 2026.

O’Connor is known for his role in ‘The Crown,”’ in which he portrayed Prince Charles on Seasons 3 and 4 of Netflix’s hit series, as well as Luca Guadagnino’s tennis drama ‘Challengers,’ where he rounded out a love triangle with Zendaya and Mike Faist. He’s currently filming Kelly Reichart’s film ‘The Mastermind.’ He will also star in Rian Johnson’s star-studded ‘Knives Out’ threequel, ‘Wake Up Dead Man.’
