Josh Hutcherson (The Kids Are All Right) and Liam Hemsworth (Knowing) have signed on to star in Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games.
Hutcherson and Hemsworth, who will play Peeta Mellark and Gale Hawthorne respectively, will star opposite Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone).
An adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ acclaimed sci-fi novel, The Hunger Games centers on a young girl (Lawrence) who joins a survival contest in order to save her community in a dystopian future.
Gary Ross (Seabiscuit) will direct.
The Hunger Games will hit cinema screens on March 23, 2012.
