Some of the finest female acting talents are set to unite on the cast of the espionage thriller, 355. Jessica Chastain will be joined by Marion Cotillard, Lupita Nyong’o as well as Penelope Cruz and Fan Bingbing to lead the all-female cast.

The drama will see the ladies playing spies from international agencies who come together and overcome suspicions and conflicts as they battle to stop a global organization from thrusting the world into chaos. Along the way, strangers and enemies become comrades and friends, and a new spy sisterhood, code-named 355, is formed.

I see creating something like 355 as an opportunity and privilege to assemble a diverse group of women, all of whom have greatly influenced the film industry through their work, to join together equally and explore the bad ass world of international espionage and thrillers,” Chastain stated.

Speaking to Deadline Chastain said “I had so much fun working on The Help that I always wanted to do another female ensemble film. I love the Bourne movies, the Mission: Impossible films, and wondered why, except for Charlie’s Angels, there hadn’t been a true female ensemble action-thriller spy film. That got my wheels going, along with the idea of casting actresses from all over the world to truly make it an international project. I realized the incredible creative freedom we would have with that. I bought the idea to Simon, told him about the actresses I was thinking of, and he was so sweet. He said, ‘I want to do it with you.’

Deadpool 2 and X-Men: Dark Phoenix’s Simon Kinberg will direct the secret-agent drama. The story is based on a script by Theresa Rebeck and an original idea by Chastain. Chastain’s production shingle Freckle Films will produce and has Chastain, Kinberg and Kelly Carmichael down to produce.
