Jennifer Aniston Goes Wild in Apatow’s Wanderlust

2

HollywoodLife have read the script for Jennifer Aniston’s latest film Wanderlust, a Judd Apatow-produced comedy film, and, thankfully, they suggest she’s about to break away from her usual clichéd romantic-comedies into new, riskier territory.

Wanderlust centres on Linda (Aniston) and George, played by Friends co-star Paul Rudd, a happily married couple who, after losing all their money, end up in a commune and decide to live their lives as freeloading hippies.

The full details and cast for Wanderlust have not yet been announced, but it’s safe to say that with promises of nudity, pot smoking and free love (read: threesomes), Wanderlust is the film that will surely show Aniston into a whole new light, possibly even resurrecting her dwindling film career.

Expect Wanderlust to be released sometime in 2011.

  1. “The Good Girl”, “Friends with Money” and “Management” are all quirky indie movies that have definitely shown that Ms. Aniston has a range beyond predictable RomCom. The problem is though the critics may love her in these films she is never really allowed to breakthrough to the more serious end of the acting spectrum. Obviously, this is a combination of what studio’s believe is the cash cow for Aniston and what audiences believed she should be relegated to — it’s as if Ms. Aniston has been put in the “America’s Sweetheart” box that both Julia Roberts and Meg Ryan have been chained to. But after witnessing the subtle aspects of her performances in these three movies, I have to say, I believe she is being underestimated. I welcome the new opportunity for her to showcase her range, once again and hope she continues to pluck some of these more juicy, quirky and obscure roles for herself. Refusing to let them lock her in the box will have its rewards long-term, imbuing Ms. Aniston with something all ingenue’s desire — staying power.

  2. I wholeheartedly agree with you. She’s got herself into a rut lately with the mediocre romantic-comedies, and I totally understand it must be hard to break out of. I’m just glad she’s getting the opportunity to work with some incredible people to try and prove to critics and audiences that she has more to her what’s been shown lately.
