HBO’s ‘Insecure’ star Issa Rae has been added to the voice cast of the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ sequel.

Rae joins the returning voice cast of Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld ho are reprising their roles of Miles Morales, aka Spider-Man, and Spider-Gwen respectively.

Rae is said to be voicing the character of Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman. Plot details are being firmly kept under wraps.

Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson will be directing the sequel from a screenplay by Phil Lord, Chris Miller and ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ David Callaham. Lord and Miller will also serve as producers alongside Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Christina Steinberg.

‘Into the Spider-Verse’ was an unmitigated success on its release in 2018 after introducing audiences to Miles Morales Spider-Man. It also introduced a number of other Spidey’s from a number of different universes including Spider-Man Noir, Peni Parker and Spider-Ham. The film also went on to win the Oscar for the best-animated film.

As well as starring in ‘Insecure’, Rae is no stranger to the big screen even. The actress has starred opposite Kumail Nanjiani in the Netflix feature ‘The Lovebirds’, She also starred in ‘The Photograph’ with LaKeith Stanfield.
