After starring in more than three hundred episodes of the Australian soap opera, Isla Fisher turned her sights on Hollywood with roles in films including Wedding Crashers; Definitely, Maybe; and this year’s Rango.

She’s recently been attached to some brilliant projects, currently filming Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby adaptation, and Variety now report she’s in talks to join Now You See Me.

The film is set to be pretty fantastic, with Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo, and Mélanie Laurent also starring. Amanda Seyfried had been in talks for the project too, but it seems she won’t be joining the cast anymore, with Fisher now in talks for the role Seyfried was to play.

“Mark Ruffalo is set to star as the leader of a team of FBI agents who are investigating the Four Horsemen, a squad of the world’s greatest illusionists who pull off a series of daring bank heists during their performances, then shower the profits on their auds. Jesse Eisenberg will play the arrogant yet brilliant leader of the Four Horsemen, while Morgan Freeman and Melanie Laurent co-star as an ex-magician and a federal agent, respectively.

Fisher is in talks to play Henley, a master technician who builds contraptions to aid in the illusion of the heists.”

Definitely an interesting premise, with the potential to be pretty great and more than just another heist film. Louis Leterrier, whose credits include The Transporter, The Incredible Hulk, and Clash of the Titans, is set to direct from a script co-written by Edward Ricourt and Boaz Yakin (Prince of Persia, the upcoming Safe).

Fisher is a terrific actress who deserves the great attention she’s been getting over the past few years, and I’d definitely look forward to her as one of the leads in Now You See Me, adding to the already excellent cast. Let’s hope her talks go well. More news on this as and when we get it.
