If you wanted any reassurance that the new Netflix series Marco Polo is the real deal, then you’ve only got to spend some time in the company of writer John Fusco. His innate fascination with the real events that inspired this series – and the knowledge to go with it – ensures this should be a worthy series to commit to. Add director Dan Minahan into the mix and you’re on to a winner.
We had the pleasure of speaking to both Fusco and Minahan about the series, and the benefits of it airing on Netflix, and therefore all being available immediately. We also asked Minahan – who has directed the likes of Homeland, Ray Donovan, Game of Thrones, The Newsroom and True Blood, just how Marco Polo stands up against such popular shows.
