Two very interesting casting additions have been made to two arguably very controversial movies today, as both The Fantastic Four reboot and the planned Point Break remake continue to expand their casts.

House of Cards and The Wire star Reg E. Cathey will play Dr. Storm in The Fantastic Four, the father of Sue (Kate Mara) and Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan). This could be an indication that they’re following the Ultimate line of comics as Storm was portrayed in those as a scientist who spearheaded a think tank in the Baxter Building, bringing the foursome together along with a number of other gifted youngsters.

Many fans had assumed that the casting of African American actor Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch meant that he would be adopted, but it appears as if it will be Sue who now takes that role.

Meanwhile, British actor Ray Winstone is going to have to channel his inner Gary Busey when he takes on the role of Pappas in the planned Point Break remake which isn’t sitting particularly well with fans of the original 1991 movie which was directed by The Hurt Locker’s Kathryn Bigelow.

The Noah actor joins Luke Bracey as undercover cop Johnny Utah, the role originally filled by Keanu Reeves. Of course, the studio is currently looking for an actor to play Bodhi, after Gerard Butler recently departed the project due to creative and scheduling issues.

Josh Trank’s The Fantastic Four is set for a June 19th, 2015 release. There’s no word on Point Break’s debut as of yet, though production is expected to begin later this year.
