House of Cards finally returned to Netflix last week, and what a season it’s been! While the show has moved away from the realism which defined its first year, watching President Frank Underwood and his First Lady Claire fight to maintain their power has been every bit as enjoyable as their journey to The White House, and this season took some unexpected turns.
With new adversaries, shocking returns, and massive plot twists, season four has been quite the journey, but which moments from this thirteen episode run stand out as being the best? Here, you will find the scenes which are easily the best from chapters 40 to 52, and if you thought the antics of the Underwoods in the past were bad, you ain’t seen nothing yet…
Needless to say, MAJOR
House of Cards isn’t a series which delivers a huge amount of intimate moments, and that makes this scene between Frank and secret service agent Edward Meechum stand out as being surprisingly touching.
Of course, we know things have got intimate between him and Frank (and Claire) in the past, so there’s a lot of subtext here, but it’s also a scene which shows a very human side of Frank as he lets his guard down for just a few moments with a man who is both his bodyguard and friend.
The fact that we revisit this later on in the series – once it’s been painted over – after the death of Meechum is a nice way of bringing things full circle, and once again shows that he was someone Frank actually cared a great deal about.
