0

Recently seen leading the acclaimed BBC adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall Mark Rylance steps into very different shoes for his role in Pierre Morel’s latest action movie, The Gunman.

Rylance plays Cox, the leader of a group of mercenaries from whose clutches Sean Penn’s long time operative (nicknamed Twink…) wants to escape. The actor’s film choices are nicely eclectic, shadowing one of the finest stage careers of all time, with this action movie being followed up by his work with Steven Spielberg on Roald Dahl’s The BFG.

Here’s what we talked about:

  • What was it about the role that appealed to him?
  • How does action on stage compared to on screen?
  • Did working with Sean Penn affect his performance?
  • Working on Steven Spielberg’s The BFG
  • Working with both Pierre Morel and Steven Spielberg
