Summer blockbuster season is nearly upon us and this year looks set to be one of the biggest of all time. After a relatively quiet year 2015 looks set to break all kinds of box office records with the season being full of reboots, sequels and spin offs to many much loved franchises.

Here is our preview of the films being released this summer, examining reasons why they could be good and reasons they could potentially be bad.

Note: Release dates are for UK Cinemas.

Let’s begin…

Furious Seven

Fast and Furious 7 Paul Walker

Release Date:3rd April

What is it: The Seventh entry in the Fast and Furious Franchise and the final one featuring Paul Walker.

Why it could be good: The Fast and The Furious franchise is a rare beast in that it is one that has gotten better with time. Following the first four films, all of which were terrible the franchise changed its formula and the films become less focused on the car specifications and become out and out heist action films.

The inclusion of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson also helped add an element of charisma largely absent from previous outings.

Judging from the trailers so far the film has stuck to this formula and with director Justin Lin in the driving seat this could be the most exciting entry yet.

Why it could be bad: Old habits do tend to die hard and of course there is a chance that the previous two films were just a fluke. All franchises hit a saturation point and whilst this one may be going through something of a renaissance sooner or later the ideas are going to get old.

Here’s everything we have on (Fast &) Furious 7, including our review from SXSW.
