Henry Cavill has joined the cast of Amazon MGM Studio’s live-action adaptation of ‘Voltron.’

Cavill joins the previously announced star Daniel Quinn-Toye, a film newcomer who has appeared on television in ‘Badults’ on the line-up.

Plot details are being kept locked up on the volt for the time being. Rawson Marshall Thurber is directing the movie from a script he wrote with Ellen Shanman.

The TV franchise follows a team of space explorers who pilot a giant super robot. Toei Animation adapted several Japanese anime television series for the franchise, which has created several American series, including Netflix’s eight-season ‘Voltron: Legendary Defender.’

Cavill most recently made a cameo appearance as the Wolverine variant “Cavillrine” in Marvel’s hit movie ‘Deadpool and Wolverine.’ His upcoming projects include  Chad Stahelski’s ‘Highlander’ reboot and Ritchie’s action-adventure film ‘In The Grey,’ both for Lionsgate. He will also executive produce the ‘Warhammer 40,000’ franchise across all Amazon MGM Studios productions.
