Luther and Mandela star Idris Elba plays Heimdall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with roles in both Thor and Thor: The Dark World. Chris Hemsworth reprises the role of the Thunder God in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and it sounds as if we’ll be spending at least some time visiting Asgard in the superhero filled sequel.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Elba revealed (likely much to Marvel’s annoyance) that both he and Tom Hiddleston will return in that movie! “I’m in Avengers. And I’m doing a scene with Chris Hemsworth [Thor] and Tom Hiddleston [Loki], and they’re like, [whispers] – ‘Aren’t you [meant to be] in Ibiza?'”

The actor is referring to his summer residency as a DJ at an Ibiza club, and went on to explain that he was able to shoot his now not so surprise appearance as Heimdall in Avengers: Age of Ultron back in August.

How this will fit into the movie obviously isn’t clear right now, especially as Thor believes Loki (who is currently sitting on the throne of Asgard disguised as Odin) to be dead. There’s talk of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes going their separate ways of course, so perhaps this has something to do with that!

There were also reports over the weekend that Loki will be in both parts of Avengers: Infinity War.

It sounds as if being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn’t always been quite so good for Elba as he went on to look back at having to do Thor: The Dark World reshoots the day after returning from filming Mandela in South Africa. “[On the Thor 2 set,] I was like, ‘This is torture, man. I don’t want to do this.’ My agent said: ‘You have to, it’s part of the deal.'” Avengers: Age of Ultron is released on May 1st, 2015.
