Guy Ritchie and Jason Statham are teaming up once again — marking their sixth collaboration — for the upcoming action-thriller ‘Viva La Madness.’
The film, which begins production in January 2026, is based on J.J. Connolly’s 2011 novel of the same name — the sequel to ‘Layer Cake,’ the acclaimed 2004 crime drama that launched the film career of Matthew Vaughn and became a modern British classic. However, despite its literary roots, ‘Viva La Madness’ is being billed as a stand-alone, original feature, not a sequel, spin-off, or continuation of any prior adaptation of Connolly’s work.
Plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, but the project promises to deliver the kind of hard-edged, kinetic storytelling that has long defined Ritchie and Statham’s partnership — one that began with ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’ and continued through ‘Snatch,’ ‘Revolver,’ and ‘Wrath of Man.’

The film was initiated by Statham and Thomas Benski (Gangs of London), who are producing through Punch Palace Productions and Lumina Studios, respectively. They’ll be joined by Ritchie and Ivan Atkinson for Toff Guy Films, and John Friedberg for Black Bear, which is also producing.
Statham is currently the only confirmed cast member, while Ritchie will write and direct.
Connolly’s ‘Viva La Madness’ is a darkly comic and razor-sharp exploration of the London underworld, following an anonymous drug dealer known only as “X” as he navigates a world of sex, scams, narcotics, and dirty money.
