InSANEIf Resident Evil and Silent Hill’s chills and thrills are just a little too…. well, American for you, we’ve got some brilliant news.

The modern master of cinematic horror and fantasy, Guillermo del Toro, is teaming with THQ to release InSANE, a trilogy that aims to combine Mass Effect with Lovecraftian horror.

The auteur behind Pan’s Labyrinth and The Orphanage has turned his tantalisingly twisted eye to a new video game project (well, he’s got the time after dropping out of The Hobbit), with a creater gushing blurb that – for once – has every possibility of living up to its hyperbolic hype.

“With this new series of videogames, I want to take players to a place they have never seen before, where every single action makes them question their own senses of morality and reality,” said del Toro. “THQ and Volition, Inc. are equally excited to make this vision of a completely new game universe into a reality.”

The thriller horror trilogy is set for release from 2013 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
