A list of names found their way online last week which featured an exciting mixture of actresses who were all said to be testing for the lead female role in Tim Miller’s take on Deadpool opposite Ryan Reynolds.
However, it has now been revealed that Gotham and Homeland star Morena Baccarin will be the one to take on yet another comic book role (her voice can also be heard in The Flash) as Deadpool’s love interest. There’s no word on which character that will be as, but based on the leaked script, she’ll play Copycat.
In the X-Men comic books, Copycat was a mutant who possessed the ability to shape-shift as well as to copy any power from another individual after a period of physical contact. She has quite a history with Deadpool!
In Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds plays an assassin who undergoes a procedure to cure his cancer which ends up leaving him twisted and scarred while also imbued with super-powers. T.J. Miller and Gina Carano are the only other confirmed cast members, though Game of Thrones’ Ed Skrein is expected to play the villain.
The vague description for Baccarin’s character says onlt that she, “grapples with falling for a man with a hideously scarred face.” The Firefly alum will next be seen in Paul Feig’s upcoming action-comedy Spy.
