This is the latest sneak peek behind the scenes of Rupert Sanders’ live action adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s incredibly popular manga Ghost in the Shell.
Scarlett Johansson is our leading actor, playing a cyborg special ops soldier known as the Major, and she’s front and centre in most of the promotional material so far. Bringing a seminal manga work to an American audience seems to necessitate hiring a Western actor (see The Great Wall’s Matt Damon, The Last Samurai’s Tom Cruise, the Airbenders etc), however the controversy has spurred on Paramount to bring in animation director Mamoru Oshii to give the new film his blessing.

Juliette Binoche and Michael Pitt are joining Johansson in Sanders’ film. The visual design of the film has been enticing to say the least, and today we get a new look at the film in production.
