Game-of-Thrones-Character-Poster-Arya-Stark

There’s certainly no sign of ‘winter is coming’ here in the UK at the moment, but blinkbox has been busy ensuring we’re all aware that Season Three of Game of Thrones is launching on their pay per view service. We’ve seen giant Dragon skulls washing up on UK shores and we were treated to an exclusive evening with Maisie Williams and Joe Dempsie at London’s very own Red Keep, The Tower London, to help them celebrate. There are SPOILERS for season three from here on in…

Remarkably the giant Dragon skull made an appearance in the grounds for fans and revelers to see in all its glory. The night kicked off with a re-run of episode one of series three which we reviewed all the way back in April – Valar Dohaeris but it was nice to remember simpler times when most of the cast were still intact, cue the Red Wedding.

Still hailed as one of the most talked about shows and nominated again this year for ‘Best Drama Series’ at the Emmys, Maisie Williams and Joe Dempsie think it will be ‘easy’ to take the crown from Homeland this year.

Maisie Williams

I never wanted be an actress I wanted to be a dancer, and it all stemmed from the pilot, I didn’t even know what HBO was, and then it kind of grew and then we did the first season and then that came out on television which was pretty cool and I got Twitter and followers went up and up and up, so yeah when it first started I was like, I’ll try acting. So it wasn’t even like I had a taste for anything it was just madness, but it’s really fun and I’m so glad I’ve chosen to act. My dancing has really helped with the sword fighting and stuff because it is like choreography.

George R.R Martin has a panache for killing off his characters quite quickly, if HBO told you tomorrow was your last scene what you would want to do and who with?

Maisie Williams

I’d like you (Joe), Lemmie and Hot Pie to just all be back together and I would teach them all a bit of commercial jazz.

Joe Dempsie

I think Gendry first of all has to get a bit better at rowing, erm, and I was saying earlier obviously you want a fairly dramatic death, you know you don’t want to slip over on a bit of spilled wine or something, but I think I’d want to go in a situation where I’m doing something quite heroic like wrestling a shark, bravely going down to save a dolphin.

Given most of the Starks are now dead, and without the protection of their direwolfs does Arya think Nymeria is still alive and do you think there is a special connection between the Stark children and their wolves?

Hey, I’d never thought about that before, yeah maybe. I really hope Nymeria comes back it was great working with her. Yeah, I think there was a lot of that in the books were the wolves were supportive of the characters and obviously Bran’s a warg and slips into his wolf, but yeah I’ve never thought about that before.”

Charles Dance has previously told us Maisie Williams is one of the most talented young actresses he’s worked with. (Maisie) Your first scenes with him in Season two as the cupbearer in Harrenhal have been described as some of the most intense in the series so far, were you genuinely petrified of Charles Dance?

When I first met him, I was very young and when he came in he was like ‘Hi I’m Charlie’ and I was like no your not your Charles Dance and it was just mad, but the weird thing about that when he came out on set I kind of forgot about it, because in Game of Thrones there’s so many people, sets and stunts when you just have a scene between two people talking. And you know it’s so different to most of the things that Arya does because she always in a fight or climbing something so, yeah it was great, I had such an amazing time and I learned so much from him, and such a pleasure to work with and he was hilarious. He was really, really nice and it was so cool that he said that about me.
