Following her involvement in MICHAEL BAY’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Frances McDormand looks set to round off her recent foray into the mainstream with an animated turn in the upcoming second sequel to DreamWorks’ Madagascar.

Set to play the film’s resident evil, Heat Vision is reporting that McDormand will voice a goal-orientated animal control officer out to capture our way-ward heroes as they continue their stilted journey home: this time by way of travelling circus.

Last seen forging a make-shift ‘happily ever after’ in sub-Saharan Africa, Madagascar 3 sees Alex the lion (Ben Stiller), Marty the zebra (Chris Rock), Melman the giraffe (David Schwimmer) and Gloria the hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith) back on the road as they look to return to captivity in New York city zoo.

Courtesy of their travelling circus, our heroes will meet the likes of a Russian tiger, an Italian sea lion and a South American Jaguar as they journey home – with franchise regulars King Julian and the scheming penguins no doubt along for the ride.

Slated for release on May 18, 2012, I for one cannot wait for this third slice of reliably madcap hilarity.
