Say Hello from the other side with the new Flatliners sequel trailer

Nope.

2

Stick this one firmly in the ‘We didn’t really ask for another sequel/remake/reboot to Flatliners but thanks all the same’ camp – It’s a crowded arena to be sure. If this new version was honestly marketed as having nothing to do with the original 90s film then it might spark a little more interest. Making it a sequel seems hoist it unnecessarily to a not-very-well remembered original which hasn’t exactly become a pop cultural icon.

Still, that’s the movie-making game right now. And throw a few thousand volts through us! This new trailer makes this generations’ dalliance with the afterlife look like fun. The new Flatliners is directed by The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’s Niels Arden Oplev and stars Ellen Page, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, Diego Luna, Kiersey Clemons, all of whom express the requisite arrogance and remorse their parts demand. Original cast member Kiefer Sutherland is back to slap a Parental Guidance sticker all over their shenanigans.

Flatliners Synopsis

You haven’t lived until you’ve died.

In Flatliners, five medical students, obsessed by the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring and dangerous experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience – giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife. But as their experiments become increasingly dangerous, they are each haunted by the sins of their pasts, brought on by the paranormal consequences of trespassing to the other side.

  1. If this is a sequel and Kiefer Sutherland is reprising Nelson Wright then how come he is NOWHERE in the trailers or in the posters?! He’s not even mentioned in the cast aat the bottom of the poster.

  2. Kiefer is in the IMDB cast list, but I’m assuming his role is relatively small.

I loved this film when it first came out. Kiefer was riding high on the back of Lost Boys, Young Guns etc and it was a different film (at the time).

Lets see how Hollywood do with yet another remake….
