David Chase, creator of The Sopranos and seven-time Emmy winner, makes his directorial debut this year with Not Fade Away, the 1960s-set drama starring the rising young John Magaro (Liberal Arts, My Soul to Take) and Chase’s Sopranos lead, the ever-brilliant James Gandolfini.

The film is the centrepiece of this year’s NYFF, and is set to arrive in theatres this December, which could see it flying under the radar for the coming awards season, and now the first trailer has been released over at Apple.

“It’s 1964. The Rolling Stones appear on television, and three best friends from the suburbs of New Jersey decide to form a rock band.”

Chase is directing from his own script, with Jack Huston, Will Brill, Bella Heathcote, Brad Garrett, and Christopher McDonald supporting alongside Magaro and Gandolfini.

Not Fade Away will be released on 21st December in the US. No word yet on when it will arrive here in the UK, but hopefully we’ll be seeing it on our shores very early in the New Year. For now, here’s the first trailer, followed by the first poster.
