Despite rave reviews, Hannibal has never found much of an audience in the US, and the surprising news that we would be getting a third season left fans rejoicing. How the NBC series has avoided cancellation is something of a miracle, but with a loyal following and steady ratings, it WILL return to TV this summer.
We recently learned that Hobbit actor Richard Armitage had been cast in a key role, while Tony Award winning actress Nina Arianda has since joined Hannibal as Will Graham’s (Hugh Dancy) wife. The series will apparently jump ahead a number of years for the final handful of episodes according to various reports.
This first teaser trailer for season three doesn’t tell us much, and cleverly avoids revealing which characters viciously attacked by Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen) in the season two finale ended up surviving. We do however catch a glimpse of him on the run with his seemingly psychotherapist Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson).
Hannibal is by far one of the best shows on TV, so now is the time to catch up if you haven’t already as season three is shaping up to be the best yet based on this first look. What do you think of the trailer?
