Well, this is unexpected! While the DC Films special which aired on The CW last night promised a “first look” at Wonder Woman, most of us just assumed that would consist of a handful of interviews and MAYBE some B-Roll footage of Warner Bros. were feeling generous.

Instead, the studio delivered actual footage from the highly anticipated movie, and as you can see in the player below, it looks excellent so far! Set during World War I, Wonder Woman is put in some very unique surroundings, though the sight of her riding into battle on horseback is destined to go down as being iconic. There’s more than just action shots here though as we also see her adopting the Diana Prince persona she uses to stay hidden.

Wonder Woman will first be introduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice this March, but her solo outing – the character’s first away from the small screen – promises to fill in the gaps of her past and reveal the Amazonian warrior’s origin story. That alone is exciting, and between this and the new Suicide Squad trailer, these DC Films are really impressing.

Starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Elena Anaya, Ewen Bremner, Lucy Davis, Danny Huston, Saïd Taghmaoui, David Thewlis, and Robin Wright, Wonder Woman releases on June 23rd, 2017.
