We went along to the launch of the season three, held at the BT Tower in central London, where we were plied with enough alcohol to turn us into zombies ahead of a special screening of the first episode which subsequently saw us wined and dined in the company of some rather friendly zombies while enjoying spectacular views across London as the sun began to set.

Some exciting news arose from the screening as representatives from AMC and BT made the announcement that all diehard fans of the show will embrace. If UK viewers can’t wait until 9pm on Monday to get your flesh eating feast on the show will also be simulcast at 2am on Monday 5th June with the US. Finally no waiting around for our American cousins to get first helpings. Alongside this news comes some more fun, those who not only love the show but Snapchat too will also be able to create your very own Fear the Walking Dead Lens to help word of Zombies from invading your selfies.

Now on to the show, Opening the third season on an Army compound base Madison (Kim Dickens), along with her family are being held by an American militia group, one just as deadly as the Zombies themselves. The episode is a slow burner portraying the family’s determination to survive at the hands of their captors before having to fend off an almighty zombie attack. The episode, on one hand, is an endless queue of dialogue, bumbling along just willing itself into life but just as its motors start to run the end of the episode comes all too quickly.

The rest of season 3 will see the families being brought together in the vibrant and violent ecotone of the U.S.-Mexico border.  International lines done away with following the world’s end, the characters must attempt to rebuild not only society but family as well. Madison has reconnected with Travis, but Alicia has been fractured by her murder of Andres. Mere miles from his mother, Nick’s first action as a leader, saw him and Luciana ambushed by an American militia group – the couple escaped death but Nick no longer feels immortal. Recovering both emotionally and physically, Strand has his sights set on harnessing the new world’s currency, and Ofelia’s captivity will test her ability to survive and see if she can muster the savagery of her father.
