EA recently announced that any small developer with a successfully crowd-funded and ready-to-publish PC game can utilize Origin’s distribution services free of charge for its first 90 days after launch, reaching Origin’s massive audience of over 12 million users.
Crowd-funding is one of gaming’s latest and possibly most important trends. It simply goes beyond a pre-order and allows gamers to invest in the development of a project that they truly believe in. David DeMartini, Senior Vice President of Origin at EA had this to say about this initiative:

With crowd-funded ventures becoming increasingly popular it’s a breath of fresh air to see a company such as EA, who usually has negative stigma branded on their foreheads, seeing the importance of creativity blossom in this new forum of publishing, and extending a helping hand to small developers.
