Is nothing sacred? Not these days it seems! After a disastrous attempt to bring the Robinsons to the big screen in 1998, plans are in place to reboot Lost In Space for the small screen at Legendary TV.

Irwin Allen’s 1965 cult TV classic is fondly remembered, so the pressure is on for this new take on the series to deliver. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless – the duo responsible for Dracula Untold – have signed on to write the adaptation and will executive produce with Kevin Burns of Synthesis Entertainment.

He holds the rights to Lost In Space and this new take on the franchise has seemingly come out of nowhere.

The original Lost In Space was set 30 years in the future and revolved around an attempt by the US to colonize deep space by sending a single family, the Robinsons, on a 5 1/2-year journey to another planet.

However, a foreign secret agent, Dr. Zachary Smith, sabotages the mission, causing the ship to veer off course and become lost in space. What this new take on Lost In Space will do to differentiate and update itself from this and the 1998 version remains to be seen, though it could have some potential…
