The first trailer has arrived for ‘Don’t Let’s Go to the Dogs Tonight,’ the poignant big-screen adaptation of Alexandra Fuller’s acclaimed memoir, opening in cinemas on October 3rd.
Directed by Embeth Davidtz and starring Lexi Venter, Embeth Davidtz, and Zikhona Bali, the film invites audiences into the vivid, conflicted world of seven-year-old Bobo, growing up on her family farm in Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) during the turbulent end of the Zimbabwean War for Independence in 1980.
As the long-running war comes to a close, Bobo finds herself caught between the two sides of the struggle, her love and loyalty torn in ways she cannot fully comprehend. Through her child’s eyes, we witness the final days of Rhodesia, the family’s deep, unshakable bond with the African land they call home, and the lingering wounds war leaves behind.
The trailer teases a rich, sensory portrait of a childhood shaped by conflict, connection, and the magic of memory — a moving reminder of how innocence and history often collide.
