Vin Diesel has already let it slip that the Guardians of the Galaxy will show up in Avengers: Infinity War, and with all of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and newcomers like Captain Marvel and Spider-Man also expected to appear, it’s pretty clear that the movie is going to be jam packed. However, thanks to Benedict Cumberbatch, we can add another name to the list.

In the latest issue of Empire Magazine, the Sherlock star confirmed that he’ll be reprising the role of the Sorcerer Supreme in the highly anticipated movie which will be released in 2018. “To get us all together will be quite something,” he teased. “That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter. So watch this space to see how that unfolds.”

Many fans believe that Doctor Strange’s Eye of Agamotto (the mystical object he wears on his chest) is yet another one of the Infinity Stones, so the Sorcerer Supreme being dragged into the battle against Thanos actually makes perfect sense. The hero stepping up to become a major player in The Avengers franchise would also be a wise move on Marvel’s part.

For now, we’re going to have to wait and see how he ends up factoring into Avengers: Infinity War, but you can check out a couple of new Doctor Strange images in the gallery below.
