The UK trailer for ‘DJ Ahmet’ has arrived like a pulse of bass rolling across a quiet valley, offering audiences a first glimpse at Georgi M. Unkovski’s heartfelt coming-of-age debut ahead of its cinema release this spring.

Set in a remote Yörük village in North Macedonia, the film follows Ahmet, a 15-year-old boy searching for freedom in a world defined by expectation. As he grapples with his father’s strict hopes, the weight of a conservative community, and the fragile spark of first love with a girl promised to another, Ahmet discovers an unexpected sanctuary in dance music.

Through rhythm and movement, ‘DJ Ahmet’ explores adolescence with warmth and emotional clarity, painting a portrait of youth caught between heritage and possibility.

After premiering to widespread acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition, ‘DJ Ahmet’ struck a rare double note, winning both the Audience Award and the Special Jury Award for Creative Vision. The film continued its successful journey across the international festival circuit, including a celebrated screening at the BFI London Film Festival, building anticipation for its wider theatrical release.
