After the box office success of Jordan Peele’s Get Out, Blumhouse is upping the stakes on their next project thriller, Only You, by securing Golden Globe nominated actor David Oyelowo to star and also take a seat in the executive producer’s chair.

Only You, which is to be written and directed by the man who wrote Paramount’s Rings, Jacob Estes has been reported to be a thriller which includes time travel but as yet no official plot line has been released for the project. Joining Oyelowo in the executive producer spots are Couper Samuelson, Jeanette Volturno and Jay Martin and will see Jason Blum as producer.

Oyelowo who made a star turn as Dr Martin Luther King in Ava DuVernay’s Selma and who was recently seen in Disney’s Queen of Katwe and subsequently A United Kingdom opposite Rosamund Pike, stated at the tail end of last year he had to quit Britain in order to succeed. He certainly made the right choice as his opportunities are knocking at his door.

This time, in A Blumhouse production, he is sure to show his diversity and spread his wings as an actor maybe moving away from those important racially motivated outings. He will next be seen in Paramount/Bad Robot’s upcoming Cloverfield movie as well as the untitled Nash Edgerton-directed film co-starring Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton, Thandie Newton and Amanda Seyfried.

Jacob Estes came to the fore in 2004 with Mean Creek, which he penned and directed, which premiered at Sundance that year and went on to win him two independent Spirit awards. Since then Estes has gone on to write and direct The Details which starred Tobey Maguire, Laura Linney, Kerry Washington and Elizabeth Banks.

Details of when Only You is to be released have not been made public.
