Paramount+ UK & Ireland and MGM+ have officially commissioned a brand new original UK adventure drama, ‘Treasure Island,’ a six-part reimagining of Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.
The high-seas saga will feature an ensemble cast led by David Oyelowo as the magnetic and menacing Long John Silver, alongside Hayley Atwell as the sharp-witted Bess Hawkins.
They are joined by Jack Huston as the debonair yet duplicitous British agent Aaron Graham, Tomer Capone as the volatile pirate Billy Bones, and Tom Sweet as young Jim Hawkins.
This fresh adaptation charts the transformation of Jim Hawkins from sheltered teenager to emboldened young pirate. When Jim discovers a legendary treasure map, it is his mother, Bess, whose decisive action thrusts them both into peril. Knowledge becomes currency. Secrets become weapons.

Aboard The Hispaniola, Jim and Bess find themselves trapped between Long John Silver’s dangerous charm and Aaron Graham’s polished duplicity. Alliances fracture like splintering masts. Trust is bartered. Survival demands reinvention.
Set across the Atlantic and into a Caribbean simmering on the brink of revolution, the story also ventures to the ominous Skeleton Island, where danger prowls every shoreline. Against this volatile backdrop, Jim must confront a world far more complex and ruthless than he ever imagined. Fortune glitters on the horizon, but resilience, loyalty and identity are the true tests.
The series has been created for television by Robert Murphy, known for his work on Vera and Shetland. Directing duties are shared between Jeremy Lovering, William McGregor and Paul Walker, with Mark Hedges serving as producer.
Production on ‘Treasure Island’ commenced this month, with the six-part drama set to premiere exclusively on Paramount+ UK & Ireland and MGM+ U.S.
