Danny DeVito has jumped on Disney’s upcoming family adventure pic ‘Haunted Mansion.’

DeVito will play the role of a smug professor. He joins LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson and Rosario Dawson on the cast.

Venturing down the same route as the Dwayne Johnson, Emily Blunt lead ‘Jungle Cruise, the film is also based on Disney’s ghostly theme park ride. Plot details are being kept buried for the time being but the story is said to follow a mother and her son who come across a mansion that is more than it seems while being orbited by various characters key to undressing the spooky mystery.

‘Dear White People’ filmmaker Justin Simien takes the helm on a story written by Katie Dippold. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich are producing via their Rideback banner.

Production is currently underway in New Orleans and Atlanta.

DeVito is due to reunite with Arnold Schwarzenegger to reprise their roles as Vincent and Julius in the sequel to the 1988 hit movie ‘Twins’. The sequel has been titled ‘Triplets’ due to the duo discovering they have another brother – in the form of Tracy Morgan.
